The YWCA Silicon Valley Tribute to Women Awards are given out in two categories: the Tribute to Women Award and the Emerging Leader Award. Following are the criteria for the nominating organization, nominator and nominee in each of the two categories.

TRIBUTE TO WOMEN AWARDS

Nominating Organization Requirements

  • Organization must have a presence in Silicon Valley
  • Only one individual per team/division/business unit may be submitted for consideration; up to four women per organization, per year may be chosen

Nominator Requirements

  • Nominator must be the highest-ranking leader of the team, division, business unit, or organization/company
  • A board member or equivalent may nominate a CEO.

Tribute to Women Nominee Criteria (must meet all)

  • Employment: Employed by the nominating organization for one year at the time of nomination 
  • Location: Organization must have a presence in Silicon Valley
  • Position: Performs in a (project, team, department, division, organization) leadership role
  • Leadership: Consistently displays outstanding functional leadership skills that positively impact the organization and its constituents
  • Management: Demonstrates exceptional management of teams, projects and/or work groups 
  • Budget: May be accountable for a significant share of the team, department, division or organization's annual budget.

Emerging Leader Award

Nominating Organization Requirements

  • Organization must have a presence in Silicon Valley
  • One individual per team/division/business unit may be submitted for consideration; only one emerging leader will be chosen per organization, per year

Nominator Requirements

  • Nominator must be the highest-ranking leader of the team, division, business unit or organization/company

Emerging Leader Nominee Criteria (must meet all)

  • Less than five years in profession (early in career)
  • Nominee works primarily in Silicon Valley
  • Nominee shows leadership capabilities and/or innovation
  • Nominee takes initiative to engage with others in their organization (forming an affinity group, for example) and/or in their profession (mentoring, participating in an association
